Is an MFA in creative writing (fiction) worth it?
My goal is to be a novelist, is getting an MFA worth it? Does the feedback time spent on your work really make the two years and thousands of $ worth it? I want to be a writer, i'm just trying to find the best path i know this differs for many people .

He awaits at his desk struggling to fathom his own minds unnecessary complexities continuously perplexed trying to decipher the code of his existence but unable to re program his thoughts in order to alter his reality through his perceptions and so he sits idly wishing purpose could manifest itself and appear in his visual field forever restrained by imagined fear which binds his hands, so he is unable to picture the world and let the beauty of it develop it seems his own indecisiveness only flashes frustrations, and so he is incapable of giving birth to any moment of true insight these realisations have become long overdue and now age wraps his mind and melancholy blankets his soul it leaves him restless whenever the night draws in, as he just longs to erase the past and start on a blank page again but he is the artist and life is a sketch pad with rough pencil outlines he now proceeds to flick through memories outlining happiness and leaving despair in the shadingand thus creating a new outcome and branching an alternate reality from the tree of his own life at once regrets have been grasped and confronted, and he no longer feels the need to plant doubts of seed in his mind and smiles as he stumbles over motivation and dust forgotten dreams he thought demonic fiends had already bleeded out of his head He is a time traveler now, through his own memories and imaginationhe revisits pasts ghosts and silences their whispers before their words strangle his future self he now hears the call of positivity beckoning, and with this bends and folds his reality into a thousand paper cranes thus transforming his perception of reality into a beautiful sight, and with crossed fingers he wishes to continue to lay his ghosts to rest because anxiety can manifest a future that you fear, and you too can become that man with a blank face sitting idly at his desk so use you're minds eye as a Delorean, to let go of the past, and from then on seize the presentbecause reality can be shaped like origami, so construct you're own and attach whichever meaning you see fit, as it is all subjective you're mind perceives the world in whichever way you choose to think of it... Websites for creative writing?
I am trying to find a writing website to keep my projects because I often like to write where I have not brought my laptop, like, you know, school. I use figment, but I don't like that you have to publish your stories to the entire internet, as I really like my current story, and don't want to share it, since I feel like I may one day pursue publishing it.. I feel uncomfortable keeping it on a flash drive as I am highly prone to misplacing things. Thanks

Is it a good idea to join a creative writing class to achieve my ambition?
I don't dare go, because I believe they may think I'm thick , because my ability to remember how to spell words is highly impossible... What would you do if you were me ? I want to go but I'm so frightened . Philip , Spellchecker just told me I have 34 miss spellings , I told it to get lost and go Train your brain I was sure it was taking the P ss out of me until everyone was told the same LOL Thanks Mark I never fishing for complements about my writing. What can I do with a creative writing degree?
Hi I was just wondering if anyone knew what I could do with a fiction writing or creative writing degree? I'm going to receive a BA in the next week and I have applied to numerous advertising firms for both creative advertising and copywriting opportunities, but I have only heard back from two places. Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

How to get over creative writing block?
I've been stuck for some time creatively actually in many more ways then creatively. I just... don't know what to do any more. I used to be able to write and draw non stop for hours and hours with good ideas flowing through my mind but it seems like the well has gone dry. Nothing in my life has changed since then. Any tips on how to get creative?

Afraid of other creative writing students stealing my ideas?
I do creative writing at University, next semester we begin properly writing and then we're required to read out our work aloud to the group, about 40 other students. We have to write a piece a week or more but the thing is I dont want any of my classmates to steal my ideas...and some are the type who would. So I've like come up with this weird thing were if I keep all of my best ideas to myself to be left hidden until I finish university and try to publish them and instead I hand in lesser ideas so nobody will steal my good ones. I know some alot of the students steal others ideas as my friend read out he story were the main character was an elderly woman...the next class 4 people had stories in about elderly women lol its ridiculous but required to real aloud our work to the class and I dont see the point if people like that are going to take ideas from others and put their name on it. What should I do? and I dont want to limit my imagination either to save my ideas from being stolen, I feel like Im lessening myself which is stupidin answer to " Crone" ...I have many creative ideas and more and more come to me because I am a creative person, I paint and sell photography part time. The reason why I worry about them ideas being stolen is because they are mine? I have created them and yes, they are original and it is very possible to come up with original stories, you were unnecessarily negative and judgemental, nothing wrong with protecting my hard work

Creative Writing project, Im freaking out...Please help!?
Hii, well im in creative writing & I LOVE this class and I usually never have any troublee But we started this project where we have to write a whole book Well, atleasst 7 chapters.. And Im doing a love story. Basically, its about this girl who never had love before and was pretty much hopeless until she met this guy she thought was perfect and she ended up being caught in an abusive relationship. I have everything but I just cannnnot start it worth a crap..Im never good with beginnings in my writings anyway but I want this one to be absolutely PERFECT. Please help me with some ideas for how to start pleeease I dont want it to start out with her meeting the guy though, I want the first chapter describing how pretty much hopeless she is and how it seems she will never find love...My teacher is very hard to please and she said if the book doesnt draw her attention she wont bother reading the rest. Please anyone help I dont care if you have an idea for the first sentence or how I can start describing her situation in an interesting way I just need as many ideas as possible because im freaaaaaking outttttt thank you so much to anyone that helps Wow, soooo many good answerss Thank you guys
